Real Wedding: Cathy & Emmie

We recently caught up with the couple to reminisce about their beautiful wedding and the discoveries they made whilst planning the day…

Cathy & Emmie were one of many newly engaged couples jumping between lockdowns and adhering to social distancing rules whilst planning a wedding and searching for the perfect venue. Despite the challenges, the pair had set on Malvern as it was in a wonderful, central location for friends and family spread all around the country, and a cherished childhood spot for Cathy and her Morgan loving Dad. Having viewed a few options, it was Barns & Yard that claimed their hearts, falling head over heels for it on their first visit.

The couple tied the knot last October on a stunning autumn day here at the Barns. The sun shone brightly for the entire celebrations, allowing everyone to enjoy the golden hues of the season.

Cathy told us: “We couldn’t rate Barns & Yard and their staff highly enough; they made our wedding and everything to do with it perfect. Having the three-day hire meant we could really enjoy the whole weekend. The venue and the grounds are stunning, and we were able to decorate just how we wanted.  Having the different areas was perfect and so many of our guests continue to rave about our wedding venue!

“The help and support we received from Lisi, Kate and Nicky from the moment we viewed the Barns, through all the planning, and to the day itself was second to none. The attention to detail is incredible, they really went above and beyond for us and made us feel so welcome. In an environment that can still follow quite heteronormative traditions, provision and set ups, we were so delighted to find the neutral, inclusive balance at Barns & Yard. We could have the day we’d wish for without feeling like we or the venue needed to make any compensations because we were a same sex couple. It was only viewing other wedding venues that we were sometimes, unintentionally, made to feel different.”

This Pride Month we celebrate love, and this wedding serves as a reminder to promote inclusivity within the wedding industry. Whilst significant progress has been made, there is still room for improvement.

Here’s to celebrating the union of two wonderful individuals, we wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.
