H&D's Wedding - A Lakeside Summer Ceremony

The wedding we’ve all been waiting for – the first wedding post-lockdown of 2021 and the British weather didn’t let us down.

H&D had the perfect summer day, complete with a lakeside ceremony, held under a beautiful floral arch designed by Bride and Bloom, and accompanied by the beautiful notes of a string quartet. Tonal hues, understated elegance and a relaxed, intimate vibe set the theme for the day.

The celebrations began after an afternoon of final touches were complete, and a final run through ticked off. Our bride and bridesmaids enjoyed a wonderful evening of pampering and preparation with Rachael Ridley Beauty, giving their nails a treat whilst they sipped champagne in the Courtyard.

Weddings by Sam captured the day:

H&D were our first lucky couple to be photographed on our new bride and enjoyed some quiet moments together on the island before re-joining their guests on the lawns.

The lakeside setting was magical with Bride and Bloom’s flower meadow aisle and floral archway framing the couple whilst. Capriccio Quartet filled the air with their sweet sounds.

The wedding day was a floral delight with Hannah at Bride and Bloom creating the most beautiful displays;

Hannah comments; ‘I first spoke to H&D, late Summer 2020 - when the world was a bit upside down - and we hit it off immediately! I was thrilled to hear that they had loved my courtyard arch which I did for a photoshoot at B&Y in August 2020.

The photoshoot arch and aisle were our benchmark to start our floral conversations and lead the way for a light, natural meadow look, with a classic palette of white hues and pops of pale blue, using textural elements and of course British Flowers for that natural meadow feel.

H&D were particularly taken with the idea of using Ammi Majus and Covent Garden Gypsophila throughout and it totally leant itself to the bride’s request for a dainty gyp flower crown.

They gave me their full trust to create everything, especially the bouquets which are always a joy to make. I like to use something unique to the couple - and in this instance H had a beautiful Poppy in her bouquet and D a Poppy's seed head in his button hole.

The arch gave the wow factor to the lakeside ceremony. What's super about Barns & Yard is the versatility of the location - the arch could have worked just as well in the courtyard or inside but as it happened, the weather was on our side and what a location to set up!

It was a real privilege to work with H&D on their wedding flowers and of course be back at Barns & Yard to floral up a real wedding after such a long time!’

‘Lisi, Nicky & Kate, thank you so much for not only an incredible day, but an awesome weekend! We've been looked after from start to finish and it's all been perfect. We couldn't have had a better day.’ H&D
